The IQity suite of modules for NetSuite was really founded by people coming from the manufacturing consulting space who saw an opportunity to do it better and leverage technology to start to do some of the things they had to do with just raw man power on the floor previously. So we really had this vision of enabling advanced manufacturing optimization performance improvement by bringing data off the floor and presenting to the organizing in real time. NetSuite allows us to do this.
We really service manufacturing pretty much throughout the whole gambit, which is continuous, discrete and batch processing. You can obviously find sub verticals within manufacturing, but in general they face the same problems. That is managing a lot of actively on the floor and collecting the data from the floor in order to establish where there at, so what we’ve really done is focus on automating that process to the extent possible. The operators need to be focused on manufacturing, ie what they are producing, not on the data capture. So one of the key tenants is to go to source of the data and bring it in automatically, on behalf of the shop floor, and then bring that up into the into the ERP system and marry it with financials to give you visibility into how the floor is performing. In this way, you get to manage through the windshield instead of through the review mirror.
One of the great things about unifying under a single platform like NetSuite is that now every piece of the organization gets to start to see the best ways to conduct whether it’s scheduling or execution of various manufacturing operations. The result of that is an organization that now is in control of its manufacturing process, rather than being reactive. There are always going to be outside impacts right?... escalated sales needs. etc., that have to be accommodated, but now you can do so in a much controlled manner because that whole manufacturing flow is better understood, better encapsulated, and better automated through a system that really has your best practices ingrained in.
One of the best examples comes from the baking industry a brand new green-field facility was built just outside Indianapolis, and they chose NetSuite as their platform and they were manufacturing focus, and they needed a manufacturing solution to help drive the floor. Their intent was to be able to drive a facility with half the people that they normally do. So that meant efficiencies had to be paramount
In the end, they have the facility operating at the staffing levels they had targeted, and they had full control over all other of their martial handling through the solution. In addition, they have full visibility into their performance and productivity on a daily basis. The NetSuite solution literally drives their daily operational meetings, and counties to be kinda the heartbeat of how they run the facility day in and day out.
